It took me a few seconds to notice the billboard in the background. The snow was coming down pretty hard. It was cold. My fingers were starting to get numb. But when I did see it, as I was trying to find the right composition, I had to laugh.

Okay, I thought. I guess this photograph is going to have a message now beyond the fact that it was pretty messy out there that night.

Sometimes the photograph you set out to make, takes on a very different meaning if you are paying attention.
