I’m a pack rat when it comes to photography. I’m always buying silly little things I find along my journey.

“Hmmm. I could use this in a shoot.”

More often than not, even though sometimes it takes a few years from, Hmmm, to the actual shoot, I’m right. It did add something to the shoot.

People who know me well know I’m a fan of the Cirque du Soleil touring shows. And at intermission or on my way out, I do take a quick look around the boutique shop with the question, “Hmmm. What might be fun to use in a shoot?”

I believe it was their 2006 show, Corteo, that I picked up two pairs of angel wings and two lovely mesh-eyed masks. The wings got used fairly quickly, but the masks sat around for a few years before I was inspired to use them.

It was Felicia who discovered them one day. And as soon as she put them on and her amazing blue eyes pierced the mesh, I knew it was worth the wait.

It’s good to pick things up along the journey.
