If you were trying to drive through Downtown Chicago today, you probably experienced the motorcade gridlock. Chicagoans have become used to the shutdowns of the Kennedy Expressway and various neighborhoods with visits from President Obama, but this morning, we were reminded that our new mayor, Rahm Emanuel brings a certain Executive-Branch-Motorcade-ness to the party as well.
Traffic was cleared on Ohio Street, Fairbanks Court and Columbus Drive this morning downtown to make way for Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade to Millenium Park for Mayor Emanuel’s inauguration.
And it will repeat later this afternoon for Biden’s exit down Ontario. Walking would probably be a better choice than driving today.
