Ivory Flame – Resilience Ascending

I photographed the lovely and emotive UK-based Ivory Flame in Los Angeles in late 2016. It was my first time collaborating with Ivory and I can describe our wonderful creating simply as, just playing in the light. In this photograph, she conveys her natural state of elegance, optimism and strength, with a nod to Old Hollywood beauty.

Photo Daily: Here Comes the Sun

I think I’ll end my recent flurry of Chicago clouds and sky pictures with this one. You can almost picture a The End title over this photograph. It’s the kind of image that’s nothing but hopeful. Nothing but good on the horizon. All of the cloud and sky photos I’ve been posting and writing …

The Inspiration Folder – Magical Sharing that Keeps Giving

Working in the Creative Industry is a lovely, wonderful, amazing, horrible, maddening thing. Just like art. When we’re lucky enough to be making something for ourselves or a client that truly resonates with who we are and what we stand for as artists, it’s nothing short of bliss. As much as is possible, I try …

Billy’s Laugh: Now on Demand

Make me laugh. Go ahead. I was at an industry party last week, hosted by my good friends at Noise-Floor, when, as is often the case at a party like this, someone said something hysterical and I let loose with one of my signature laughs. It’s kind of become a legendary sound in my circle …

Part 22 of 50: Billy Crashes the Model Taxi

This is part twenty-two in a series of blogs on my photography adventures at ZoeFest X, in Todos Santos, Mexico. You’ll recall that my decision to rent a car for the duration of ZoeFest X was turning out to be a fine choice. Before leaving Chicago, I had imagined that I might have only used …

Billy’s Lost Mailbag: The Birthday Card Edition

As promised, I’m continuing with Billy’s Lost Mailbag today. Yesterday, I unearthed a pile of 2011 Holiday Cards, or Christmas Cards if you’re into that kind of thing. They had been carefully set aside during the usual December deadline crunch, and temporarily forgotten soon after we counted down to 2012. It appears that it’s also …

Part 14 of 50: ¡Las Tortugas! The Very Nearly True Story of Henderson the Sea Turtle

This is part fourteen in a series of blogs on my recent artistic adventures in Mexico. After safety returning Meghan to the Hotelito with no major incidents with los Federales, my next shoot was scheduled with the ever inspiring Brooke Lynne in a few hours. I found Brooke curled up on one of the comfy …

Part 13 of 50: Prohibido el Paso with Meghan Claire

This is part thirteen in a series of blogs on my recent artistic adventures in Mexico. On the fourth day of ZoeFest, my true love gave to me…. Sorry, my brain is saturated to the point of insanity with holiday music this week. But yes, it was the fourth day of ZoeFest in Todos Santos, …

Part 12 of 50: Playing in the Light with Rebecca Lawrence

This is part twelve in a series of blogs on my recent artistic adventures in Mexico. I was nearing the end of my experiment of two days in a row of having booked three shoots in one day. Looking back, I’m glad I did what I did for two reasons. First, it would have been …
