Some might say the revolution away from train travel in this country is over and has been for decades. Yet I still hold out some hope that in years to come, the pendulum may swing back a little closer to center.

After WWII, Americans made the decision we were going to be a car country and quickly headed off down the interstate. Exciting times. Independence. But it came at a cost. Clogged highways. Commutes, stuck in that traffic. Oil dependency.

The movement to rebuild our once great passenger rail systems is a small one, but one that also is beginning to make more sense to a lot of people. Especially with pushes to use our energy resources more efficiently.

There usually always is some kind of revolution in progress. The tricky thing is determining what kind of revolution it is.
