I was in an Old Hollywood mood when I made this photograph of Merrique and the beautiful curve of her back. I was using old school tungsten fresnels to paint the set with very specific areas of light. As much as I love working with natural light, sometimes I like to be more specific with where light is falling.
I had such a great time photographing Merrique, another of my lovely model friends who is a bit of a renaissance woman. Her intelligence and empathy also comes through in her music. It’s always wonderful to collaborate with her.
And Merrique being the beautiful woman she is, created some wonderful poses as our shoot progressed. Graceful curves, but strong at the same time. Beautiful noir, in every sense of the word.
