The light was really incredible the day I made these photos in that old Santa Fe rail yard. The sun was low in the sky, but oh so powerful.
The sky was the deepest of blues. And when I made the B&W conversions of these photographs, it very nearly looks like night. Very dramatic.
The sun reflecting off the old train metal was very intense. It reminded me a little of those old steam locomotive photographs by O. Winston Link, with his banks of strobes lining the tracks, illuminating the passing train for a split second as it passed in the night.
But on this day, the power of the sun was all the light I needed. Beautiful.
