I don’t really mind the rain. I actually like it. Living in Chicago, I know that rain is always better than snow.
I made this photograph during a mid afternoon downpour, so heavy, that it looked like evening at 2 in the afternoon. I got a bit drenched, standing out there with my camera, waiting for something to catch my eye. Looking for…. ah… there it is!
An umbrella. I love photographing umbrellas.
It’s an interesting shape. A compelling silhouette. Umbrellas from above are wonderful. But even at street level, they can be a nice element.
