The Greek Islands are a little bit of paradise. Seems like something at the top of everyone’s daily to-do list, is to watch the sunset. Stop. Wait. Watch. Breathe. Peace.
There is very little rushing about on the islands. It’s kind of perfect.
I made this photograph on transparency film, something I haven’t done in years. I had two Nikon camera bodies around my neck on my travels to Greece. One loaded with black and white negative film, the other with color. And even though I’m usually preferential to black and white images, Greece was messing with my usual photographic aesthetic. In a good way.
The color palette in Greece, at least on the islands, is pretty much blue and white. Except when the sun is near the horizon. Then the color tones change to deep shades of ambers and oranges. Like Greece is a beautiful woman, changing her outfit for evening dinner. It’s a sublime transformation.
Stop, wait and watch. Breathe. Peace.
