I had the pleasure of attending the June 3rd Chicago Die Antwoord concert with my good model friend Carlotta Champagne. It was her birthday, and she happened to be staying at my studio for a week. We made some great art (short film coming soon), and then headed out to the beautiful old Riviera Theatre for the show. We found some comfortable seats in the balcony, which offered not only a great view of Yolandi and Ninja, but also of the audience.
I’d have to say the show reminded me of a very early Sugercubes concert back in the early 90s at the nearby Uptown Theatre. At least from the standpoint of the voices of Björk and Einar Orn. Same sort of toddler-esque enthusiasm.
I shot this with my iPhone 5s, which continues to amaze me with its photographic quality, considering it’s a phone camera.
