It’s always interesting to see how a body of work evolves over a period of time. Working through a decade, it’s not always evident while you’re in the moment to see the subtle changes in point of view. New experiences and new people all combine to create an incremental progression that I’m not aware of while making the photographs. It’s only when you stand back and see a collection on a gallery wall that the steps of the journey become evident.
I’m exhibiting such a collection of images at The Gallery at The Colonie, a beautiful space that allows you to soak in the voyage all at once. I’ve been shooting nudes for 15 years, and this collection represents the second half of that work through 2008. I feel very fortunate to have created work with such amazing and generous women.
And I’ll also be previewing some new photography, created this year in New Orleans, a city in the middle of a paradox of devastation and rebirth. One of my favorite American cities.
