Took a walk over to the NOPA Gallery today before the opening tonight. It’s a beautiful space and I was warmly welcomed by Tom and Michelle who are managing and curating the gallery.
It’s going to be a great night and I’m looking forward to meeting the brilliant photographer Mayumi Lake, who selected the photographs for the exhibition.
It’s been lovely to walk around New Orleans in this beautiful weather and Michelle reminded me I might want to get some sun block. Oh yeah. My solar panel might be getting a bit red today. I’ll have to remedy that.
I had lunch at a coffee shop called Le Monde this afternoon. I love finding the little places that end up becoming home for a few days. And to prove that you’re never too far from home, while I was waiting for my pannini and iced vanilla latte, I picked up a copy of The New Orleans Levee, an Onion-esque free paper. And what’s the cover story?
Blagojevich to Rule as King of the Carnival
Apparently the reputation of our disgraced ex-governor has even outdone the political corruption of The Big Easy as Mardi Gras approaches later this month. Out-shaming New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Senator David Vitter. That’s quite a feat. Nice work Blago.
Back to the hotel to freshen up now and then back to the gallery. I’m having a wonderful time here!
