J’ai passé mon examen final français hier pour niveau quatre.
I passed my French final exam yesterday for level four.
I have a few weeks off before level five begins and that will be a nice break. It’s been fun learning French the past nine months, but it’s also a lot to keep up with considering everything else I’m working on these days. My classmates and I celebrated last night at Le Bar at Hotel Sofitel, where we could speak French and raise a few glasses to our accomplishments.
Tonight I had a rare night with nothing scheduled, so I had a wonderful dinner with a great friend of mine who I don’t get to see nearly enough socially, and we spent the evening having a great discussion about the times going on in our lives, good and bad. Luckily the good is heavily outweighing the bad these days. But I really appreciate the views of a good friend who is close enough to see what is going on in my life and be truthful about what is apparent, even though I may not truly see what’s going on myself. Sometimes hard to hear, but tough love is that. Love. And it’s not something I take for granted.
So I’m going to do a little more photo work before I go to bed tonight. I made the decision to begin processing my own film again and it’s going to take a bit of time to get the chemicals mixed, so I’ll probably do that over the next few days so I can begin again what I used to do so often before letting a lab take over that part of my work. I’m shooting more film than I have in a long time. There’s still something about it that I like more than digital in certain cases. Definitely from an art standpoint there is something more organic about it. I may try to define that a little better in the future, but for now…
Here’s another photo from the weekend shoot with Melissa, perched on my roof. After saying all that about film, ironically this one is digital. But color corrected in a way that I think mimics the look I visualized the film to be. I’m curious to see how the film from this shoot turns out. I’ll know in a few days!
